Tagor’s Bombshell or Lies?

Posted by Business in Ghana on July 19, 2007

Kwabena “Tagor” Amaning yesterday told the Fast Track High Court that the much talked about secret recording, popularly known as the ACP Kofi Boakye Tape, was done by Alhaji Issah Abass, working as an informant for drug enforcement officers of the Narcotics Control Board.  Tagor, in answering a question posed by his lawyer Nana Bediatuo Asante, said that the apparently heated conversation about alleged past dealings in “goods” with Alhaji Abass was all stage-managed by the two accused persons “as a bait” to get ACP Boakye to own up.

  1. Thursday at the Fast Track High Court, Issah Abass, corroborated Kwabena “Tagor” Amaning’s revelation that Alhaji Abass was the mystery man behind the secret recording of the May 2006 conversation which took place in the house of Assistant Police Commissioner Kofi Boakye.

  2. The Cocaine case in Ghana has moved forward significantly and if like me you are lost in the saga of names and overlap between The drugs board, CID and the police administration, you should follow the Kojo Armah committee findings. Interesting reading. Here is an excerpt from The Daily Guide in Accra.

    Missing Cocaine Catches Police
Barely a week after the police administration had virtually indicted DSP Patrick Akagbo for the loss of cocaine from the CID headquarters, a ministerial committee has revealed that Chief Superintendent Adu-Amankwa, commander of the Organized Crime Unit (OCU), has several questions to answer pertaining to the theft.

The Kojo Armah Committee Report, which was submitted to the Interior Ministry some three weeks ago, said there was more to it than meets the eye.

Not only did the committee detect that the commander hid certain truths from it, but stated that there were several lapses in the way the head of the Ningo-Prampram cocaine investigations had handled the case, describing some of his actions as unprofessional and careless.
