Forget About January 7, Mr. Kufuor; Reschedule Your Handover!

Posted by Business in Ghana on January 7, 2009

We are deeply amazed, but hardly surprised, that President J. A. Kufuor would issue a statement seeking to flagrantly interfere with justice and the rule of law under Ghana’s fledgling democratic culture. The lame-duck president is, indeed, quite right that many of us Ghanaians, resident both at home and abroad, had our Yuletide and New Year festivities effectively marred by the raging presidential run-off impasse.  It is quite obvious to Ghanaian citizens who have studiously followed Mr. Kufuor’s un-statesmanlike activities and wrong-headed and outright sophomoric policies, deliberately directed against the political fortunes of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) that put him in the seat of power for two electoral terms, that the outgoing premier is, so far, very pleased with the political crisis that he has almost single-handedly created.  Make no mistake, Ghanaians are in no way, whatsoever, fooled by the President’s rather cavalier and dubious attempt to hurriedly slink himself out the fetid and lurid mess that he has willfully created, largely out of his quite well-known and personal antipathy towards Nana Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party.

Why cry foul when you know your party is not ready to rule? you lost the election, so move on with your life and accept the NDC

dr. okoampa-ahoofe, i think your choice of words are too acidic. can you lower your tone a little please. you can say the same things in a gentler tone

  4. Prof Okoampa-Ahhofe says “The travesty, needless to say, would be for Dr. Afari-Gyan to spuriously declare the former vice-president and perennial presidential candidate of the NDC President-Elect, when more than 50,000 registered Ghanaian voters, in the Tain Constituency, of the Brong-Ahafo Region, have yet to vote”. Prof, the EC has done exactly what you (and your NPP) asked for. However, knowing how impossible it was going to be for Nana Addo to turn the tables, they boycotted the Tain elections. Will you now accept for Dr Afari-Gyan to declare Prof Mills the President-Elect? Ghanaians have spoken and no amount of machinations on the part of the NPP will change that. So please accept and let us have our peace of mind.

  5. I’m very much surprised at Okoampa’s article. This so called proffesor Ahoefe has been defending everything that kufuor does ever since some of us saw that kufuor didn’t have the country at heart from day one that he assumed the prsidency. I’m glad the light buld in Okoampa’s head has finally lit up. I have never seen a professor with divisive ideas like Okoampa. I wish him well in the coming years and hopefully that light buld in his brains will keep glowing from today. Bye for now Prof.

This Prof. called Okoampa is a very dangerous termite .He would have wished that GHANA, after the election is turned into the war fields of Somalia and Rwanda whilst he sits comfortably in New York writing his acidic and divisive articles.Any cursory look at his articles shows how tribalistic this Prof.is.His articles are pact of lies and half truths. He is a liar like his father the the devil.Ghanaians by the help of the ALMIGHTY GOD have prevailed .
