Homosexuality is an abomination – Rev. Frimpong-Manso

Posted by Business in Ghana on June 21, 2009

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Yaw Frimpong-Manso, has condemned homosexualism which is gradually creeping into the society and gaining a degree of acceptability.  Dr. Frimpong-Manso said the practice was an abomination under Ghanaian culture and norms and “therefore our men should eschew the temptation of accepting this practice which has gained currency in the western world”.  He said though the west-brought Christianity to Africa, they preached the virtues of same sex marriages in our churches, to take us away from the spiritual relevance of the Home Bible.  Preaching at the commissioning of Ministerial Probationers on Sunday at the Immanue1 Congregation, Madina in Accra, Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso urged Christians to “stand firm against the powers of the dark and spiritual forces of evil.”

My Church in the US just had its Annual Conference this past weekend and the issue of whether to allow gay and lesbians into the pulpit led to a heated discussion. I believe that the church condone such practices (including fornication), by not preaching against it. Furthermore, we dwell much on the dogma or doctrine of the Church rather than the teaching of the Bible, the only word of God.

Homosexuality is rampant in the Western world; fornication and adultery is not mentioned in our part of the world, and we make excuses that there is shortage of men. Parents push their daughters to be second and third wives without even blinking. It is time we went back to the basis- to the Word of God.
There are many translations of the bible, but the New King James Version says in 1 Corinthians 6:9-12
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionist will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
Glorify God in Body and Spirit
12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

As we can see the sins that make us unrighteous is not limited to homosexuality. It is up to those who have been born again to point out to people what the word of God says about unrighteousness.

May the Lord help us all.

Congrats rev. Frimpong for writing on this topic. You have said it what needed to be said about this subject. The western world has done nothin to save africa spiritually, now they are accepting same sex marriages, especially in usa where politics has taken over spirituality among its peoples. Homosexuality is gaining momentum becase of their voting power. They vpte for democrats they are more liberal than the republicans. There are homosual churches and ministers because they pour money into those churches. In the usa God is a secondary matter. God or jesus, muhammed or what have you are never mentioned in their schools until the child reaches college llevel education where religion isthought as a literature. So what do you expect people who came out of these environment to be.
Citizens of sodom and gomorrah. All ghanains, politicians, churches, and parents should stand up against this act. We have to have a second look at this western oriented spiritual house and write for african christianity.
Peace of god be unto you

Homosexuality is widespread here in the UK. I am listening to a radio discussion in which homosexual callers are discussing how they feel things are progressing to the point that they are accepted in main stream society and there is no difference between gay and straight people. Men who marry men refer to them as their husbands. I find this disgusting and I want to come home.
